It is not enough to simply educate and advocate on behalf of a clean, safe and healthy South Carolina. That is why Conservation Voters takes political action to communicate directly with voters about the need to elect the best conservation candidate in their district. Conservation Voters is the only organization capable of making political endorsements and holding elected leaders directly accountable at the ballot box.

Our endorsement process begins with a candidate questionnaire. Click here to download our candidate questionnaire. After submitting a questionnaire, candidates meet with members of our Board of Directors for an interview. Conservation Voters considers the candidate’s conservation record, if they have a record, and the viability of their campaign. Finally, the full Board of Directors evaluates this information and votes on an endorsement.

Once Conservation Voters announces an endorsement of a candidate, our work is just beginning. Conservation Voters employs a variety of tactics to help candidates win at the ballot box. These tactics include, making a contribution from our Political Action Committee (PAC), coordinating with the campaign to provide consulting or other expertise, or communicating directly with voters.
